About BEC

The Border Equestrian Club was formed on the 16th of March 1990 in the Gonubie Farmers Hall at an inaugural meeting held between two existing riding clubs.
The new club was an amalgamation of the Gonubie Horse and Pony Club (established in 1973 and based at the present site from 1974) and the East London Riding Club (established in about 1968 and, we believe, had been called the East London Pony Club for a number of years before that!)

As most of you are aware, there was a terrible fire at the BEC Thursday, 13 July 2017. The fire managed to take out the contaciner, lawnmower, 2 blocks of stables, jumping shed, all the wooden jumping equipement, as well as burning Pardon, our beloved groundsman.

We must have the BEST members and community in the world!! We have been overwhelmed with the generosity from everyone! Pardon has been so well looked after and we are well on the way to having all our equipment replaced.
