About BEC

The Border Equestrian Club was formed on the 16th of March 1990 in the Gonubie Farmers Hall at an inaugural meeting held between two existing riding clubs.
The new club was an amalgamation of the Gonubie Horse and Pony Club (established in 1973 and based at the present site from 1974) and the East London Riding Club (established in about 1968 and, we believe, had been called the East London Pony Club for a number of years before that!)

For the smooth and successful running of our shows, assistance is needed in a number of areas.  Time keepers are required to assist the jumping judge and scribes are needed for showing, dressage and equitation. Help is also required for the tuckshop. We are aware that most people coming to shows have committments to horses, riding or children and in some cases all three! We are also aware that it is sometimes difficult to committ to assisting when you are not entirely sure of your schedule.  Nevertheless, we really need people to help out, even if it is only for an hour at a time.
